Design Concept

For Taiwanese people, life often begins with "eating." Food is not just a daily necessity; it also carries familiar memories and emotions. Taking inspiration from Taiwanese culinary culture, the "Mantou Stool" draws on the rounded, fluffy, and plump form of a freshly steamed bun, translating its soft visual impression into the language of furniture. Through a slightly raised seat and gentle curves, it offers a welcoming, comfortable, and playful user experience, allowing an everyday food icon to naturally become a part of the living space.

Product Features

Flexible placement, suitable for various scenarios.

With its lightweight and sleek design, the Mantou Ottoman moves effortlessly between different spaces. Whether used as extra seating in the living room, paired with a sofa, or placed in a bedroom, entryway, or dressing area, it can be flexibly repositioned to suit your daily needs. Its clean, soft form allows it to blend naturally into various home styles, making it both a practical and playful piece of everyday furniture.

High-density foam

Featuring high-density foam padding, it strikes the perfect balance between softness and support. When seated, you can feel a plush, resilient embrace, while maintaining sufficient support to prevent sagging or deformation from prolonged use. In addition to enhancing seating comfort, it ensures the ottoman retains its full, rounded shape even after long-term use.

Handpicked fabrics

FibreGuard stain-resistant fabric

A stain-resistant fabric brand from Belgium, where each fiber of the fabric is coated with a functional anti-stain layer. Common stubborn household stains such as ballpoint pen ink, coffee, and ketchup can be easily removed with just water and mild soap. Furthermore, it is certified by the International Oeko-Tex Association, ensuring it contains no chemicals harmful to humans or pets.

Safe for children and pets

Because FibreGuard fabrics are certified by the OEKO-TEX® Association for international textile environmental safety (including skin-friendly pH levels and excellent colorfastness, and free from formaldehyde, pesticides, heavy metals, chlorine, preservatives, carcinogenic MAK amines, and scientifically proven allergenic dyes), they are manufactured in a way that is safe for both our environment and humanity – these fabrics do not release harmful chemicals and are safe for both children and pets.

FAQ

Can the color be customized?

HOKII collaborates with a sofa factory, allowing for customized stool colors. Prices vary based on the selected fabric and leather; for specific pricing, please contact our Line customer service at @HOKII to arrange your custom order. As custom items are made-to-order, they cannot be returned once sold.

Can the fabric be removed and washed?

We do not recommend making this with a removable, washable fabric cover. To achieve the plump, rounded curves of the "mantou" design, the fabric must be precisely secured and tensioned using upholstery tacking during production to ensure a smooth, snug surface. If converted to a removable cover, the fabric would struggle to conform to the curved contours, leading to wrinkles that compromise the overall aesthetic and quality.

Is the seat feel on the softer or firmer side?

The Mantou pouf offers a firm yet bouncy seating feel, striking the perfect balance between softness and support.
When seated, you can feel a moderate level of resilience and a sense of being cradled; it is neither too soft to lack support nor too hard to cause pressure, ensuring a comfortable and natural seating experience whether for a short rest or daily use.

Can sitting for long periods cause sagging?

The Mantou stool is filled with high-density foam, providing excellent support and resilience that resists sagging or deformation even with long-term use. Over time, the foam will naturally soften slightly while maintaining its full shape and firm, responsive feel.
